What we collect, and what we do with it.
This describes what this website actually does, not what a template says. If you read one section, read the one about measurement, because that is the part that happens without you doing anything.

Who we are
Mussiro Trips designs and runs trips in Mozambique and across the border into Eswatini and South Africa. We are based in Maputo. This page covers mussiro.com and the enquiries that reach us through it.
For anything on this page, including a request to see or delete what we hold about you, write to info@mussiro.com and a person will answer.
When you write to us
The enquiry form asks for your name, your email, how many of you are travelling, roughly when, and what you have in mind. The travel trade form also asks for your agency, your role, the markets you sell and what you are looking for. Everything except name, email and the message itself is optional, and a short message is a perfectly good enquiry.
What you send goes to two places: an email to the person who will answer you, and our own booking system, where your enquiry becomes a record so it does not get lost between inboxes. We use it to reply to you, to plan and run your trip, and to keep a history if you travel with us again.
The newsletter
The tick box on the enquiry form is unticked by default, and we only add you to the list if you tick it. If you do, we keep your email and name for that purpose until you unsubscribe, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link that works. Unsubscribing is remembered: a later enquiry does not quietly sign you back up.
Photos you send us
If you contribute a photo, we receive your name, your email, an optional credit link, where the photo was taken, your description, and the photo itself. Photographs often carry the exact coordinates of where they were taken in their file data, and we receive that too when it is there. We use all of it to credit you and to decide whether the photo fits the site.
How we know where you came from
On your first visit the site records how you arrived: the page you landed on, the site that referred you if there was one, any campaign tags in the link, and Google's click identifier if you came from an advert. That sits in your own browser's storage, not on our servers, and it travels with your enquiry only if you send one.
It tells us which of the things we do actually brings people here. It does not identify you, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Measurement, and the cookies that come with it
Every page loads the Google tag, which feeds Google Analytics and Google Ads. It sets cookies, records which pages are read, and records when an enquiry is sent or a WhatsApp link is clicked. We look at it to understand which pages are worth writing and whether advertising is worth paying for.
When you send an enquiry after arriving from one of our adverts, we also report that to Google Ads together with your email address, hashed. Hashing happens in your browser before anything is sent: Google receives a one-way fingerprint, not your address, and it is used to match your enquiry to the advert click it came from.
If you would rather none of this happened, you can block cookies for this site in your browser, use Google's own opt-out browser add-on, or turn off ad personalisation in your Google account. The site works the same either way.
The WhatsApp button opens a conversation with our number. From that moment the conversation lives on WhatsApp, which belongs to Meta and is governed by their terms, not ours. We see it as we would any message, and we use it to answer you.
Who else sees your data
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We do use a small number of companies to run the site and the business, and your data passes through them:
- Vercel, which hosts the site and stores the photos sent through it
- Supabase, which holds our booking system's database
- Resend, which delivers our email
- Google, for Analytics and Ads as described above
- Meta, if you choose to write to us on WhatsApp
How long we keep it
Enquiries stay in our system for three years after we last heard from you, so that a conversation that restarts does not start from nothing. If you travel with us, we keep the booking records for as long as Mozambican tax and accounting law requires. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept for the period Google's own retention setting allows.
You can ask us to delete your data before any of those, and we will.
What you can ask for
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask for a copy of it, or tell us to stop using it for marketing. Write to info@mussiro.com. We answer within thirty days and we do not ask why.
Children
The site is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Children travel with us often, and we receive their details from the adult booking the trip, which is the only way we want to receive them.
Changes
If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. We do not keep old versions online, so if a change matters to you, the date is how you know.
