Deep south Mozambique
Very close to the South African border, emerges one of the most beautiful and diverse places for diving. Has been visited for the most part by serious and passionate divers around the globe, for its renowned shark diving which is world class level. You can see up to 6 different species of sharks in the same dive, truly astonishing. Beyond that, there are both colorful dives as an aquarium, and dive sites such as a playground for the underwater photographers, either for macro life and giants.
Departure & Return Location
Ponta do Ouro is 120km south of Maputo and was declared by authorities as a Marine Protected Area due to the large amount of marine life and for being a place where sea turtles go to lay their eggs.
Ponta do Ouro offers diving sites with depths that vary from 10 to 35 meteres, that are home to a very wide variety of marine life, including multiple species of sharks, dolphins, turtles, rays and countless reef life.
The most famous dive site is called Pinnacles and can be a 35 to 40 meter deep dive. The Pinnacle has become known for shark sightings mostly during shark season that starts in September and only ends in April.
